The parish of Collonge is recorded in 1153. The parish of Saint-Maurice is mentioned as early as 1275. The latter formed a separate parish, which was united with Collonge in the 16th century. Collonge became a commune in 1792, and took the name Collonge-Bellerive in 1797. The commune's inhabitants are called Collongeois or Belleriviens.
